Thanks for the comment and for taking a look around the new place. I think that in addition to attending these events, I'm going to try to make some of my own, too. I don't have a ton of friends into wine, but that could be part of the fun. Maybe having people over who are interested but not fully immersed might find it a fun and relaxed way to enjoy the stuff. I love doing tastings, and you are right, there are a lot of really nice wine people who will welcome those of us who haven't been doing this as long. I think we all love to share our passion for wine with those who are newer than us, whether we have been into wine for 6 months or for 20 years. I hope that you keep finding more of these type of events to attend. They are such a great way to gain broader wine experience. I'm trying to organize some events like this in my area. There isn't really much of a wine community where I live, so I'm trying to build one from the ground up. :) Also, I really like the new site, and your new identity as the Wineing Woman. :) Sounds like a really fun experience.
